Western Yellowbellied Racer

Coluber constrictor mormon
(Baird & Girard, 1852)
Polk Co., Oregon. April 29, 2007

What a nice surprise, finding a trio of these snakes on my visit to Oregon. They are a slightly smaller, more gracile version of the racers found back home in the Midwest (which can be real brutes). Their dorsal colors are subtle and exquisite.
