Western Variable Ground Snake

This snake was found crossing the highway, at the end of a successful Mojave herping trip. The ground snakes in Nevada are spectacular as well as variable. In 2018, Sonora was elevated to a ‘supergenus’ containing Chilomeniscus, Chionactis, and Sonora as subgenera. For more information, see:
