Spotted Flying Lizard

Draco maculatus haasei
Boettger 1893
Khao Yai NP, Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand. February 25, 2016.

I saw a number of these lizards at Khao Yai National Park, they were quite common on tall trees with space around them. Just another ‘tree lizard’ until I happened to catch sight of one, backlit by the setting sun, as it glided from one tree to another. Try as I might, I didn’t get any video footage of gliding Dracos during my visit.  Draco maculatus currently contains four subspecies.
