Desmognathus conanti
Rossman, 1958
Johnson Co., Illinois. May 26, 2013.
These specimens were encountered near a fishing lake in Johnson Co. and are part of an introduced population, likely established by fishermen releasing bait salamanders in the lake. D. conanti does occur naturally in Illinois in small populations along the southern border. Formerly D. fuscus conanti and now elevated to full species status.
