Southern Pacific Rattlesnake

Crotalus oreganus helleri
Meek, 1905
San Diego Co., California. March 30, 2012.

The first helleri from my first trip to southern California and Baja Norte.  This is most common rattlesnake in San Diego County. Highly toxic, irascible, and often likely to strike from cover without warning. Wicked cool, accent on wicked.
