Santa Catalina Side-Blotched Lizard

Uta squamata
Dickerson, 1919
Isla Santa Catalina, Baja Sur, Mexico. September 3, 2013.

I hadn’t been on the island more than 15 seconds when I spotted this lizard, on a piece of plywood right on the water’s edge. Uta squamata are slightly larger than mainland utas, and sport spectacular shades of blue.
