Lampropeltis zonata ‘parvirubra’
Zweifel 1952
San Bernardino Co., California. May 17, 2015.
It’s funny how many lifers have come from bathroom breaks. Tim Warfel found this beauty under a rock, on his way to see a man about a horse. The horse had to take a back seat for a while. Subspecies of Lampropeltis zonata have been dropped by most workers, but given that collectively they are geographically isolated, I consider them to be valid (my list, my rules).
My Flickr album for this species is here.
HerpMapper records for this species are here.
