Regal Ringneck Snake

Diadophis punctatus regalis
Baird & Girard 1853
Cochise Co., Arizona. August 28, 2011.

I didn’t get great photos of my first regalis, which is just as well, as it was quite small and not very regal. It looked much like the ‘regular’ ringnecks back in the Midwest.  This specimen was photographed in a light rain, hence the scattered drops of water.

My Flickr album for this species is here.
