Northwest Mexico Leopard Frog

Lithobates magnaocularis
(Frost and Bagnara, 1974)
Alamos, Sonora, Mexico. August 25, 2011.

Walking down a shallow stream on the outskirts of Alamos, our group spotted a small cistern off to one side. Inside were a number of frogs and toads clinging to the sides and to a small ladder, and we rescued as many as we could reach. Some of the rescued frogs were magnaocularis, which we would later find on the roads after heavy rains.
