Jeweled Treefrog

Dendropsophus miyatai
(Vigle and Goberdhan-Vigle, 1990)
Madre Selva field station, Depto Loreto, Peru. January 15, 2013.

These frogs show up occasionally, and are usually observed perching on a leaf a few feet off the ground. I have found them at the Madre Selva field station, and at the Santa Cruz field station. The specific epithet honors Ken Miyata, a zoologist / fly fisherman who studied rainforest ecology and frogs.
