Micrurus distans distans
(KENNICOTT 1860)
Alamos, Sonora, Mexico. August 21, 2011.
“Snake! Stop!” The car was just out of the gates of the hotel when CJ shouted out. I slammed on the brakes, and he was out of the car in a flash, with me in close pursuit, and there it was – a coral snake, crossing the street right in the town of Alamos! A cool snake, and my first Mexican elapid, but it was the most difficult snake I have ever tried to photograph. It simply would not stop moving under any circumstances.
My Flickr album for this species is here.
