Sistrurus miliarius miliarius
(Linnaeus, 1766)
Hyde Co., North Carolina. September 23, 2013.
It was the last hour of the last day of a four-day trip to North Carolina. Walking along the edge of a canebrake, Peter Berg and I found this little cutie as pictured, coiled up out in the open.
