Snorkeling with sea turtles off the beach at Akumal rates as a top tier moment for me. Prior to that I’d gotten glimpses of Greens from the decks of fishing boats, but those brief moments were far from satisfying. At Akumal, I shot dozens of photos (see Flickr link below) and shot video over the course of an hour, as I followed several turtles around the cove. I also shipped in a lot of sea water – goatees don’t make for a tight seal on a face mask. But it was totally worth it!
